England legends Katherine Brunt and Jenny Gunn took three wickets apiece to help dismiss Sunrisers for just 53 runs inside 30 overs as Northern Diamonds cruised to a nine wicket win at Fenner's.
As soon as Brunt and Beth Langston took five wickets between them in their opening spells, the sorry Sunrisers never looked like recovering to post a competitive total with only two of their batters reaching double figures on a miserable afternoon for the hosts.
The carnage in Cambridge began in the fourth over with Brunt trapping Amy Macleod in front for three before fellow opener Grace Scrivens fell next over caught behind off Langston for one.
From then on it was a procession. Cordelia Griffith was bowled by Brunt for a 13 ball duck with Naomi Dattani becoming Langston's second victim when she too was bowled without scoring.
Mady Villiers had her stumps rearranged by Brunt for 0 before the prize wicket of Fran Wilson went to Gunn after she skied one to Alex MacDonald at mid-off for six.
Gunn then bowled Gardner and Castle for ducks with Linsay Smith chipping in with the wicket of top scorer Amara Carr who was stumped smartly by Lauren Winfield-Hill for 17.
Some last wicket resistance from tenth wicket pair Gayatri Gole and Kate Coppack was swiftly ended by Kaite Levick who bowled the former with her first ball for 11.
The modest target presented no problems to the Diamonds batsmen although Winfield-Hill will be disappointed she chased a wide delivery from Coppack to feather one through to Carr behind the stumps for seven.
A sloppy 24 extras given away by Sunrisers ensured it was only right that the winning run came from a wide to leave Hollie Armitage unbeaten on 14 with Nat Sciver nine not out when the victory was sealed in the eighth over.
