Blog: Kalis backed lower order to perform against Sunrisers

When we were 120-8 against Sunrisers on Saturday, I was sat on the sidelines in absolutely no doubt that we would get up to a score we could defend.

Those girls, Kasper, Lev and Slats, are all very good with the bat, and for them to put on another 74 was an amazing job.

We thought 195 was a defendable target. We didn’t want it to be that close, but we showed a lot of fight in that second innings, it’s a win and we are two from two now.

We’re a team who knows how to win, and we showed that again.

You always want to win more comfortably, but you also need games like that so you can learn from them.

It didn’t quite work out with the bat on Saturday, but it did the week before against Thunder when we chased down 240 pretty confidently. It was almost the perfect scenario.

Every game different people are standing up, which shows how good a side we are.

It is a big two weeks for us coming up. We have two more games before the break for the Hundred, and if we can be four wins from four when that comes around then we will be in a great place to get to the final of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.

I’m looking forward to the Hundred with the Birmingham Phoenix. It will be a lot of fun. But I’m not thinking about that for now. All my focus is on the Diamonds.

I feel in a good place with my batting at the moment. Even though I didn’t score many runs against Sunrisers, I was able to score 35 not out in that Thunder win.

A big help was playing five T20 games for the Netherlands against Namibia in the week before.

It was five games in the legs, and it was such a good series. It went down to the last game and the last over, but we managed to win it 3-2. It was definitely nail-biting.

Last Wednesday, myself and Leah Dobson went to the opening game of the women’s Euros at Old Trafford, England versus Austria in the football.

It was pretty cool given it was the first game of the tournament. There was loads of fireworks and things like that.

I even know the English national anthem now!

I will still be supporting Holland, but it would be good to see England do well. That would be a great final.
